Privacy Policy

The short version

• No account, no login, no name or email required.
• Your transcriptions, practice history and settings are saved on your device. Recognition and purchase services are described below.
• We don't run our own analytics or tracking.
• The microphone is used when you start listening, tuning or voice practice. Audio analysis runs on-device. On iOS, song recognition sends an audio fingerprint to Apple, not your recording.
• Songlens shows no ads. Apple and RevenueCat process purchases and anonymous purchase records; their policies are linked below.

Information we do not collect

We do not ask for, collect, or store personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or photos. We have no user accounts and no server-side profile of you. The only time we see your email is if you choose to email our support address.

Data stored on your device

Your saved transcriptions, practice history, and settings are stored locally on your device (in the app's local storage). This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be removed at any time by deleting songs in the app, clearing the app's data, or uninstalling the app. You can export a backup of your own data from the app's Settings whenever you like.

Microphone & audio

Microphone access supports listening, the tuner and voice practice when you start those features. Audio analysis and stem separation run on-device. Songlens does not upload raw recordings or imported audio to an analysis server. Audio used for a session is processed locally; transcriptions are saved locally, and exports or backups you choose to share go to the destination you select.

Song recognition and model downloads

On iOS, after a listening take or file import, Songlens uses Apple ShazamKit to try to identify the song. A short audio sample is converted locally into a non-reversible acoustic signature (fingerprint), which is sent to Apple for matching. The raw audio is not sent to Apple. A match can return the title, artist, artwork and an Apple Music link. Recognition requires connectivity; if it fails, you can name the song yourself. Apple handles service requests under its Privacy Policy.

Optional studio separation models are downloaded from BlackRaven-hosted resources served by GitHub Pages and run on-device. Requests for models, artwork and website links necessarily send network information such as an IP address to the hosting provider. They do not send your audio for processing. See GitHub’s privacy statement. Model downloads are optional; the local quick-separation engine remains available.

Advertising

Songlens does not show ads and does not include any advertising SDK.

Purchases

On iOS, Apple processes payments and RevenueCat validates purchases, restores access and provides subscription reporting. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app-user identifier and purchase records, including product and transaction identifiers and subscription status. These are used for app functionality and purchase analytics, not cross-app advertising tracking. We do not supply RevenueCat with your name, email, recordings or transcriptions, and we do not receive your payment card details. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Apple Privacy Policy. Deleting local app data does not cancel subscriptions or erase records retained by purchase providers.

Analytics

We do not use advertising trackers or a separate behavioral analytics SDK. RevenueCat provides purchase and subscription analytics as described above. Apple may provide aggregated diagnostics through its standard app reporting, subject to your device settings and Apple's policies.

Children

Songlens is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.

Your choices and rights

Because we don't hold a personal profile of you, most control lives on your device: you can clear the app's local data, and you can allow or revoke microphone access in your device settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA over data our purchase partners process; you can exercise those directly with those partners (linked above) or contact us and we'll help point you to the right place.

International users

BlackRaven AI LLC operates the app and support from Wyoming, United States. Our purchase partners may process data in other countries under their own safeguards.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy we'll change the date below and post the new version at this URL. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
